This well known worldwide fairytale was written by Charles Perrault in 1697.
One of the most familiar parts of the story is where Cinderella loses her glass slipper and then she tries it on to prove that it was hers.
According to Wikipedia, there has been a misunderstanding on the translation of the French words, "vair" (fur) and "verre" (glass) that are homphones. Here is the original part taken from wikipedia :
